The position is to be filled by mid-April. The working hours are 40 hours/week.

The tasks include the following:

  1. Office management for the Section of Development Cooperation (60%)
  • Communication:
    • Assisting with correspondence with partners and intermediary organisations, ministries in Tanzania and the EAC Secretariat;
    • Providing support in public relations;
  • Administration:
    • Scheduling;
    • Assisting with development cooperation delegation trips (organisational, logistical, administrative tasks) and organising and implementing development cooperation events;
    • Data management/data storage;
  • Support in substantive work:
    • Data/background research on development policy topics;
    • Maintaining an overview of German development cooperation with Tanzania, including bilateral and regional development cooperation, projects of other departments, as well as projects of private organisations, churches, organisations that promote social structures and foundations;
    • Providing support in preparing bilateral intergovernmental consultations and intergovernmental negotiations with Tanzania and the EAC;
    • Providing support in processing small development cooperation projects by the Embassy.

2. Office Management for the Section of Culture (40%)

  • Communication:
    • General correspondences in the field of culture;
    • Providing support in public relations;
  • Administration
    • Data management;
    • Assisting with the organisation and implementation of cultural events;
    • Providing support in organizing and implementing cultural projects and sports scholarship programmes;
    • Supporting the War Grave Portefolio;
    • Contributing to matters concerning orders.

Requirements:

  • At least a bachelor's degree;

  • Very good knowledge of English and Swahili (fluent written and spoken), good knowledge of German (written and spoken) at least at level A2 desirable;
  • Good IT skills (PC user knowledge, Word, Excel and PPT) and the ability to learn new specific software programs;
  • Courtesy in dealing with partners;
  • Ability to work in a team and flexibility;
  • Willingness to travel for work;
  • For non-Tanzanian citizens: work permit in Tanzania;
  • Work experience in an international institution would be an advantage.
