Official and Diplomatic Passport Holders

Tanzanian Officials (up to 90 days in 180 days)

Tanzanian Officials do require a visa for Germany. Officials have to come in person for the purpose of fingerprint scans to the external service provider for Schengen visa applications: TLScontact.

The following documents have to be submitted:

  • Note Verbale (original; photocopies/scans are only sufficient for groups traveling together where the original Note Verbale is provided with one of the group members´ applications)
  • Official passport with at least 2 empty visa pages and valid for at least 3 months after return to Tanzania
  • One recent biometric passport picture
    Biometric specifications for photos PDF / 550 KB
  • Completed VIDEX online application form with barcode Link
  • Travel Health insurance in accordance with Schengen specifications (not required if the accompanying Note Verbale confirms that all medical costs for the stay including medical evacuation will be borne by the German Government)

Holders of Tanzanian or other Diplomatic passports (only!) (up to 90 days in 180 days)

Holders of Tanzanian diplomatic passports require a visa and the above mentioned documents:

  • Note Verbale (original; photocopies/scans are only sufficient for groups traveling together where the original Note Verbale is provided with one of the group members´ applications)
  • Diplomatic passport with at least 2 empty visa pages and valid for at least 3 months after return to Tanzania
  • One recent biometric passport picture
    Biometric specifications for photos PDF / 550 KB
  • Completed and signed (by the applicant) VIDEX online application form with barcode Link
  • Travel Health insurance in accordance with Schengen specifications (not required if the accompanying Note Verbale confirms that all medical costs for the stay including medical evacuation will be borne by the South African Government)

They may get in touch with the Embassy’s Consular Section via Contact form to arrange a special appointment: It is necessary to arrange an appointment at least two weeks ahead of the intended travel date.

Please note: Only holders of diplomatic passports may personally come to the Embassy. The delegation needs to arrange their appointments with TLScontact. They will not be allowed – under any circumstances – to hand in their application at the Embassy and no special appointments will be arranged.

Accreditation for Diplomats and Officials

Diplomats and Officials in need of accreditation to work at their respective mission in Germany can contact us to receive further details on the process. They should plan to apply at least one to two months in advance of intentional travel date.
